Tung Tak School

ONLINE EXHIBITION

Introduction about school

Tung Tak School is a small village school in Kam Tin. With only one class in each year group, education at Tung Tak School is personal and each student forms a close bond with the teachers. Students come from a wide variety of socio-economic backgrounds, with students coming from the local community or further afield. No matter these different backgrounds, everyone is part of the Tung Tak School family and we strive to create a school where all are welcome and feel included.

School Vision

Inspired by the education in Finland, our principal sought to create a ‘forest school’ where the students are involved in and learn about nature and the outdoors. All our schools take part in our ‘forest course’ which integrates the discovery of Land, Sea and Sky with the core subjects.

It is the ambition of all teachers that each student who comes to TTS will follow our motto of Transform, Thrive and Soar to discover who they are and how they fit into our world.

I am Craig Andrew Smith, the NET at Tung Tak School. I was interested in helping my students to get involved with Little Stories as the concept of involving a photography course with English-language learning was so novel.  I felt inspired as I saw my students learn the elements of photography for the first time; I even learned some new things myself! The students created their own photo-autobiography and I’m certain this will help them to develop their self-concept and sense of identity.

TUNG TAK SCHOOL

"Photography is not only a skill, but also an art of expression. Tung Tak students are very lucky to be exposed to photography for the first time through the "My Story" project, and learn how to connect with themselves, their school, family, and neighbourhood. This is a precious opportunity for them to be grounded in the present and look to the future. I hope that by understanding themselves more deeply, students can become better versions of themselves.

We look forward to it!"
